Research Centers
Vivia actively collaborates with two leading research centers where we have set up our ExviTech technological platform and R+D equipment, in both cases, inside or adjacent to hospitals, close to the patient.
The hematological cancers project will be headed from the Cancer Research Center (CIC) of Salamanca, adjacent to the Hospital Universitario of Salamanca. There, Vivia collaborates with Dr. Alberto Orfao's team, a specialist of international renown in the field of leukemia and lymphomas, in particular, in the application of the core technology of the ExviTech platform, flow cytometry in the research of these diseases.
Vivia also works very closely with the IMABIS Foundation of the Hospital Carlos Haya of Malaga, WHERE Vivia HAS also installed an ExviTech platform. The collaboration in IMABIS is headed by Dr. Fernando Rodríguez de Fonseca, MD, PhD, who manages Vivia's efforts on disease biomarkers and who is responsible for an ambitious research project in the field of the metabolic system; which is expected to be launched in the course of 2009.
Associations
Vivia maintains a close relationship with the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER). Vivia has also established an alliance with the Association of Relatives and Caregivers of Patients in Spain (CUIDAR Association), with which it keeps a close partnership by funding the Cuidar Project. The main objective of the project is to take care of the caregivers of patients with low prevalence illnesses, by means of support and psychoeducation programs specifically tailored to this group.
These alliances aim to join efforts toward two shared objectives: providing solutions to the situation of those suffering these diseases and of their caregivers, and acting as a catalyst and a structure through which to initiate and push the donation of samples and the participation of those who take part in the research projects, such as the ones of Vivia and the CUIDAR Foundation.
